We can now* provide FREE training sessions for parents, carers and professionals.
Awareness Raising Sessions - (2 hrs 30 min duration)
- How schools meet Special Educational Needs
(This covers School Action and School Action Plus, Individual Educational Plans, self esteem and more.)
- Managing Meetings
(This looks at how to get the most from meetings, steps to a successful meeting and how to be more assertive.)
- Children with SEN Achieving their Potential
(This session covers homework, school record, transfer to secondary school and into the adult world, strengths and vulnerabilities, etc.)
Short Information Sessions – (approximately 30 minute sessions)
- Conflict resolution
(Covering conflict management styles and ways to diffuse difficult situations.)
- Assertiveness
(This session explores the meaning of assertiveness and how to be more confident.)
- The Devon Parent Partnership Service
(This session provides a description of the Parent Partnership Service in Devon
- Early Years Action and Early Years Action Plus
(A session to the extra help available to identify your child’s needs and support for you.)
- Disability Discrimination and the Disability Equality Duty
(Exploring the Disability Discrimination Act and the duties attached to the Act.)
Training Style
The training sessions enable you to meet other parents and carers in an informal and welcoming atmosphere. The training is usually delivered by a Devon Parent Partnership Officer who will also lead small group discussions and exercises. You will leave with printed information and an Attendance Certificate.
